Instagram post 2035840002944184702_8609253156 SUP FAM I’M BACKKKKKK✨🙌🏼🎉
+
So nice to see you lovely people again! ☺️ After a FAR too long and totally unintentional break from social media, I am back and ready to help you pursue your dream of becoming an OT!!!
+
Y’all. I’ve struggled these past couple of months with my health, stress, exhaustion, navigating a new job, finishing classes, and trying to get enough DANG observation hours just to make my OT dreams come true and not die in the process!! So I checked out for a bit, without meaning to. And you know what? It was nice. Like, really nice to just not have one more thing on my brain while I navigated this season of change and managing all the things.
+
I’ve had a lot of ups and downs DIRECTLY related to my OT journey lately, too. And I have been hiding them from you guys, thinking that sharing my story would only be a waste of time bc probablyyyy nobody else can relate. But you know what? THAT’S A LIE, Y’ALL.
+
I started this lil corner of the internet in order to give you a REAL, RAW, HONEST peak into everything it takes to become an OT, and while every journey will certainly not be the same, I may be depriving others AND myself of a learning opportunity by keeping it all to myself bc “nobody else is struggling with that”. GIRL PLEASE.
+
So here I am to tell you, hey, I’m struggling to become an OT too🙋🏼‍♀️I’m doing my best, but MAN do I fail so often. MAN is this journey tough. MAN is it kicking my butt every single day. But MAN is it all going to be worth it in the long run.
+
I may not be doing all the things perfectly, but I can promise you this: I am learning SO MUCH in this season, and I intend to share my truth with you guys—in all the mistakes and chaos and imperfect and messy things, too.
+
Keep your eyes peeled for more OT real talk soon😉
Instagram post 2002472259960503743_8609253156 Let’s talk STUDY HABITS🤓
+
I’ll be honest, y’all: my study habits are still a little all over the place since I took a year off between finishing my bachelor’s and starting my prereqs for OT school. Yet I KNOW finding a consistent routine for studying is KEY to learning without cramming and feeling overwhelmed in the process.🧠💪🏻
+
But there’s only so much time in a day, especially when you’re working while going to school (like many of us are!)
+
My goal for studying THIS week is to sit down with my planner and schedule in 5 A&P review sessions for 30 minutes each—in addition to the other time that I’ll need to spend doing A&P and physics homework. That way I’m making sure to REVIEW old material for better memorization in addition to spending time LEARNING new material.👏🏼
+
What are some of YOUR favorite ways to maintain a consistent study schedule?📖✨Drop them in the comments below!
+
P.S. how fun is this A&P coloring book for a stress-free review?🖍🤗
Instagram post 2000232497623278595_8609253156 Hey pals. It’s no secret that I’ve been dealing with some tough health issues lately.
+
Thankfully, I’ve been working with an amazing integrative medicine doctor who is helping me use food, supplements, and lifestyle changes to heal my body.🌿
+
The only downside to naturopathy (in my opinion) is the amount of work and effort it takes every. single. day. to get better. Conventional medicine is so good at saying “take this pill” and slapping a bandaid on the problem, and we love it because it’s easy and gets us back to our normal lives sooner.🏃🏼‍♀️
+
I’ve tried that quick fix route so many times and unfortunately have continued to develop symptoms over time. Which leads me to where I am today, putting in the work each day to prepare healthy meals, taking my supplements, and trying to maintain a sense of balance.👌🏼
+
I recently started a health journal to track my health changes—what I eat, what symptoms I’m having, and how I feel overall.📖
+
I share this with you as part of my raw and real journey to becoming the best OT I can be—and because I bet some of you are struggling with some aspect of your health or overall wellness on your own journey, too.
+
So friend, my advice to you today is to stop trying to take the shortcut that you know is just slapping a bandaid on the problem over and over again, whatever your problem might be. Put in the work, track your progress, and let’s get healthier, stronger, and better together.👯‍♀️💪🏻
+
What is your best advice for keeping up with whatever it is without slapping on a quick fix?✨
Instagram post 1999071638284895514_8609253156 Hey pals, I had the privilege of interviewing the lovely @taelormadeot for my blog series #OTStoriesFromTheField!🥳
+
As many of you know since she is so active in the OT community on Instagram, Taelor is an OTD student with a passion for trauma informed care within the field of OT (AKA she’s a girl after my own heart—I found OT after studying psychology and falling in love with the study of neuroscience and trauma!)🧠
+
Every Wednesday, Taelor hosts #OTwisdomwednesday where she and others share little bits of encouragement for those of us on this OT journey. I thought it would only be appropriate to share this quote from her guest article live on my website now.🌿
+
“YOU have the ability to shape your OWN future.” Although there are many unknowns in this life, you have the power to be proactive and make plans for your future! You get to choose how you spend your time today. You get to choose if you’re going to study hard for that exam, or go talk to that professor, or volunteer at that facility, or research more on your own, etc!
+
It is far too easy for us an students to complain about all of the assignments and projects and exams we have while missing the whole point of education in the process. Nobody is going to do this stuff for you! You gotta make it happen for yourself, girl!
+
How can you be proactive in your journey today and everyday?✨👊🏼
+
P.S. click the link in my profile to check out her story on OTinsight.org!
Instagram post 1997359145778693695_8609253156 Y’all, I’ve got a prettyyyyy big A&P lecture exam today and a lab exam tomorrow, and let me tell you...ya girl ain’t ready. Anybody got any good last minute A&P study tips?😅
+
Although I’m clearly not doing this well at the moment (but I’m only human), something I’m trying to work on during this part of my OT journey (working + going to school to finish those prereqs) is finding BALANCE in all areas of life.🌿
+
I have a tendency to work myself into the ground because I just won’t stop and take the time to rest and heal the way I need to in order to refuel…AKA, I have BARELY ANY work/rest balance in my life unless I’m SUPER intentional about it.
+
Another way I see this tendency pop up is in waiting to study for exams until the last minute...(anybody else guilty of this?🙋🏼‍♀️) For me, seeking balance in the school area of my life means setting aside intentional time every. single. day. to stop everything, sit down, and STUDY—even for just 30 minutes at a time—so that I don’t lose my mind trying to cram all the origins and insertions of the muscles into my brain all at once at the last minute…🙈
+
How can you best seek BALANCE in your life today? Drop it (or your study tips) in the comments below!👏🏼
